About the Oil: This tree, a small fragrant evergreen, is native to many tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. It reaches 4.5 meters in height with sharp spines, stiff leaves and white flowers. The fruit is half the size of a typical lemon and is a pale green color. Lime essential oil is cold-pressed from the rind of the ripe fruit grown naturally in Mexico and is pale yellow in color.
Aromatherapy Notes: This oil has a sweet-tart citrus brightness, with an uplifting fruity middle note, and a cool finish similar to that of the fresh fruit.
Traditional Uses: Lime juice and Lime essential oil have been used to reduce fevers, fight infections, sore throats and boost immune function.
Application and Use: A drop of Lime per two teaspoons of Witch Hazel makes an anti-bacterial astringent. Store in a mixing bottle and apply a small amount twice a day. Lime oil can be sprinkled in the shower, or inhaled from a diffuser to open the respiratory pathways. It blends nicely with all Eucalyptus oils, for a fruity aroma to the herbaceous cineole component of Eucalyptus leaves. As a drink, put 10 drops to a half gallon of purified water. Can also mix 3-5 drops of other oils like Rejuvinate and Slim Me. Makes a tasty drink.
Safety: This oil is non-toxic and non-irritating. Cold pressed Lime oil may be photo sensitizing, therefore exposure to sunlight should be limited for 24 hours where it has been applied to the skin. If ingesting for medicinal purposes, consult with a physician if needed.
